Parent- Child Daily Rhythm

9:00  Parents/caregivers and children arrive. Please hang your coats in the mudroom, put slippers or warm socks on parent child hand in handyour child and yourself, and come inside. (Please bring an extra set of clothing for your child and have snow boots and snowsuit as needed)

9:00-10:00  Parents engage in purposeful work, (our Domestic Arts include handwork, ironing, placemat washing, flower arranging and snack preparation).  Children may join the parent with the activity or play freely in the classroom. Our Creative Arts includeoccasional projects in preparation for the festivals of the year, but we like to provideenough time for the children to simply “be” and explore the room on their own. Let’s try to observe the children without conversation.

10:00  We tidy up our classroom and set the table for snack. Then we wash our hands, and go to the table, waiting for everyone to be seated and a candle lit before beginning to eat. The mealtime is a nice time for the Social Art of conversation and for getting to know one another better. When we finish eating, we say “Thank you for our meal”; then we wash the dishes and sweep the floor.

10:30ish  When snack has been cleaned up and the bathroom visited, we gather together on the rug for circle time. Inparent child morning garden photo our circle, we learn nursery rhymes, seasonal songs and finger plays. Our Nurturing Arts include lap games that parents can learn to do with their children at home. Circle ends with a toddler–sized story, with children on laps, please. (If your child is fussy and disruptive, you may take a break in the mudroom or the sitting area, and we will welcome you back in a few minutes!)

After the story, we will go out to the mudroom to put on our shoes and coats, and go outside to play and take a walk to the barn to visit the sheep and chickens.

11:30  We sing our goodbye song. Our morning is officially over, but you are welcome to continue to play outside.
